Preformed rough slabs: My slabs have all or most of the pits and fractures removed and all sides smoothed with 180 diamond grit. This produces a better looking slab and makes it easier for you to produce multiple cabs and/or a finished specimen.

Willow Creek Jasper is one of finest porcelain Jaspers found in the world. Willow Creek jasper is mined 15 miles north of Eagle, Idaho on private land. (NW of Boise, Idaho). The Jasper forms in the center of very large thunder eggs. One of the theories, as far as Willow Creek goes, is that these thunder eggs formed deep within the earth, then were trusted up through large volcanic vents where they accumulated and solidified surrounded by very hard Rhyolite. This rough with the mauve, pink and tan colors will produce a beautiful cab with a mirror polish.

An 18 mm dime and 10 mm background squares in some pictures should help you with image sizing.

Finishing purchased slabs: My recommendation, start with 325 diamond grit and finish with 600 grit before polishing. I have created several posts that show how I create cabs, see my website blog on Designsbyshirl.com.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.

My first 4 pictures show the slabs wet, this brings out the colors you should see in a finished product. Other pictures show items dry, this should show imperfections (small cracks or pits) if there are any. Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.
