Approx size: 20-21.5 mm, 4 mm thick. Weight: 7.6 grams

Ancient clipped Greek bronze coin, unidentified ancient Greek bronze coin, face on front and back. I tried to identify the faces on the coin but couldn't. Maybe a rare coin. Priced reasonably.

Clipping bronze coins was probably done during a barter for goods or to gain extra wealth by cheating the person receiving the coin at a later time.


AUTHENTICATION

If you have a report on the coin that states all the particulars of the coin and attests to the authenticity, shows pictures of both the front and back, that report would have cost a minimum of $40, and it would of come from an accredited dealer that is authorized to evaluate a coin. I can see the necessity for a certificate if the coin is of a great value, but not inexpensive coins (coins under $200). I don't give out certificates but I guarantee the coins I sell to be authentic and if they are suspect I will tell you so.

I get my coins in auction from respected dealers that guarantee they are authentic related to where they come from, most time they get them from licensed excavators in foreign countries. I normally have to clean the coins when I get them. I then research them on the internet and in books in order to identify them. If your worried about your coin being a counterfeit or copy, don't be, counterfeit coins have been identified from as far back as the time the originals were made, even for experts they would have a hard time identifying these types of coins, as for fakes, most copies are poorly made and are easy to identify To help with identifying some of my coins I used internet sites that show fakes along side the originals and point out the differences.
