RARE CHROME CHALCEDONY from Australia. I shaped and prefinished it to a smooth finish, it has a beautiful mirror finish with 1200 diamond grit, the front and bck are flat.  The green Chalcedony is a beautiful emerald green. The slab does have internal inclusions, This slab is ready for jewelry or keep it as a collectable specimen. Show it off with the included plastic stand.

Chrome chalcedony occurs in a number of places in Western Australia. The piece displayed below came from near the town of Newman which is approximately 700 miles north of the capital, Perth.  Because this is a silicified cap rock and only found on the surface it's extremely rare.

The geological setting of the area is that of an ultramafic intrusion into granite-greenstone of Archaean age.  The intrusion consists of serpentinite that has also produced chrysoprase, chalcedony & common opal. These rock types along with the chrome chalcedony occur in the weathered , silicified cap rock. It's believed that original weathered serpentinite has been replaced through processes of silica deposition and the chrome chalcedony represents a whole-rock replacement or pseudomorph.
