Torch Relay races started in ancient Greece as religious rituals held at night. In a torch-race a torch was passed on in the race with the goal being to reach the finish as fast as possible with it still burning. As a reward, the winner was allowed to light the sacrificial fire at the altar. The torch-race was connected with several religious festivals. These races eventually turned into a team athletic event, mainly with adolescents. It developed into one of the most popular sports in ancient times.

Apollo is the god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, medicine, healing, and plague, music, poetry and the arts, and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and has a twin sister, the chaste huntress Artemis.

Amphipolis is a municipality in the Serres region of Greece. The seat of the municipality is Rodolivos. It was an ancient Greek polis (city), and later a Roman city, whose large remains can still be seen.

I cleaned this coin electronically of the mud and dirt to make them more presentable for the jewelry and make it easier to identify. The patina left on the coin is a dark bronze. This black color on a bronze coin is the true "natural" patina that comes from handling and use. It is a layer of oxides that results from skin oils, the atmosphere, etc.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.
