Lapidary slabs preformed by DesignsbyShirl in Windsor, Calif. My small to medium slabs are rare, scarce or unique and one of a kind. They are preformed by sanding and shaping them. They have flat backs and fronts, all sides are smoothed with 600 diamond grit to make it easier for you to finish. Most have a glow or brighter finish so you can use them asis in jewelry or as a specimen, if stand is shown it's included free.

SLAB CHARACTERISTICS:

RHODONITE preformed slab ready to finish. beautiful material with contrasting colors of pink and black, some translucence. No pits or open fractures, several naturally sealed fractures can be seen in the pictures, they blend in. A black plastic stand is included. This material came from Calif. Size: 30 x 31 x 6 mm, 73.5 ct.

This is a silicate mineral that is usually found in metamorphic rocks. Rhodonite is often used for beads and cabochons because of its contrasting pink and black hues. It has a Mohs hardness of around 6.

INFO ON SLABS

Use my pictures with the 10 x 10 mm background squares and the 18 mm dime to help with size visualization. All pictures show a dry slab with subdued colors. Polishing or finishing should brighten most colors.

I try to eliminate all the pits and open fractures and I smooth all sides. I will note anything I couldn't remove or you can't see in the pictures. You going to get a slab that is going to be easy to finish. I preform the slabs by sanding and shaping them with 120 to 600 diamond grit, making sure all grit lines are removed with each grit used, this gives the slab a superior looking finish. The front top has a slight mound. My preform really helps you cut down the time it takes you to finish these slabs. No waste to deal with..
