PREFORMED SLAB DESCRIPTION

Peanut Wood (Teredo castings), brow and creme colored, triangle shape, 38 x 23 x 7 mm. Preformed to make it easier for you to cab. Rare petrified driftwood. no pits or fractures. No enhancements.
Peanut Wood is a rare and beautiful petrified wood from Australia. Rare because it is rarely mined, mainly because it required heavy equipment and the lack of water at the location. The lighter areas of the stone are made by a marine wood-boring bivalve named Teredo.

This is an ancient drift wood that sank to the mud at the bottom of the ocean and remained for millions of years. as a drift wood it is now found along the edges of the Kennedy Ranges about 100 miles inland from the coastal town of Carnarvon, Western Australia. The geological formation found in makes it around 120 million years old. The wood is of several varieties, the main ones being "Araucaria"...a conifer & podocarp, called Peanut wood because it resembled peanuts.

INFO ON SLABS
Use my pictures with the 10 x 10 mm background squares and the 18 mm dime to help with size visualization. All pictures show a slab that has been given a nice glow or bright polish from 600-1500 diamond grit, some even have a mirror polish.

I try to eliminate all the pits and open fractures and I smooth all sides. I will note anything I couldn't remove. Your going to get a slab that is going to be easy to finish or use asis. I preform the slabs by sanding and shaping them with 120 to 600 diamond grit and sometimes up to 1500 grit, by removing all grit lines before the next stage in sanding gives the slab a superior looking finish and makes it ready for the next step. My preform really helps you cut down the time it takes you to finish these slabs. No waste to deal with.
