My preformed rough slabs have all or most of the pits and open fractures removed and the front and back smoothed to produce a more acceptable slab for you to finish as a cab or specimen. Some of my pictures will show a 10x10 mm background to help you better visualize the slabs size.

DESCRIPTIONS:

EAST JAVA PURPLE CHALCEDONY with black basalt. 17 x 27 x 7 mm, 27 ct. Rare beautiful translucent iridescent Purple Chalcedony. No longer being mined or for sale on the internet. For some time I have been the only one selling it on the internet, the Government withdrew the property to use as road fill. Don't mistake this material for the Purple Chalcedony that comes from West Java or Africa, it's just not the same.

This chalcedony has black and white basalt matrix which makes it rare and unique, and one of a kind. There are 2 types of East Java Chalcedony that came from the same region of East Java, one is an outstanding clear iridescent lavender color. The other is a beautiful iridescent purple and lavender chalcedony with the black and white basalt matrix still attached, which makes it stand out as being different and beautiful.

Do not use acetone or something like it when cleaning or finishing, the Basalt will not survive.

RARE CHAROITE, preformed lapidary slab, 17 x 31 x 6.5 mm,47 ct, purple lavender and black colors, iridescent, natural, rectangle shape, from Russia.

Most slabs have been preformed by shaping and sanding them. I also removed most of the pits and any ugly open fractures, anything left in will be noted in the descriptions. I sand all sides of a slab with 180 to 260 diamond grit so the're ready for you to finish with a finer grit and polish, they all have flat backs. If you need more specific info on any slab send us a note. Contact us if you have any special requests to re-shape our slabs or cut special slabs to your specifications.

FINISHING: I try and get all or most of the pits and open fractures removed and the front and back smoothed to produce a more acceptable slab for you to finish for jewelry or specimen. My recommendation for finishing these slabs is to start with 600 diamond grit, if 600 doesn't remove all grit lines on the slab, work your way back and use (320, or 240) and then 600 to remove all grit lines, finish with 1000 grit before polishing. COMBINING: If your combined items will fit in my standard 9x7x3" bubble envelope you will only be charged for the actual weight. Any shipping overage you may have paid will be returned manually before I ship your package. Do not combine any Rough Chunks until you contact us for approval.

PICTURES: Pictures are taken wet and dry, all are wet except the last 2, wet ones bring out the colors you should see in a finished product, dry ones may show imperfections, small fractures or pits. Any imperfections that I think should be noted will be described in the items description above.

CAMERA LIGHT: I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.
