Biggs Picture Jasper cabochon, all sides flat, mirror finish, designer shape, brown and tan, no pits, no fractures, black dendrites (25170)

I created a smooth slab, gave it a mirror shine and converted it into a cabochon with a flat front, back and sides. It has a smooth surface no pits, no fractures, making it suitable for jewelry or as a specimen.

We prefinish our lapidary slabs by trimming away anything that doesn't look good, and we give them a final 1200 diamond grit sanded smooth finish. Based on their physical makeup, they can end up with a nice glow, bright or mirror shine. If I have to leave anything in, like pits or fractures, I will mention them in the below description.

RARE BIGGS PICTURE JASPER cabochon, all sides are flat and smooth with a mirror finish. Designer shape. No pits, no fractures. Beautiful brown tones with tan highlights and black dendrites on the front and back sides. The material for this cab came from an Estate sale so the actual date found is not known., it did come from old stock Plastic stand is included.

Biggs picture jasper comes from Biggs Junction, Oregon where the famous Blue Biggs jasper was found. This jasper is well known and getting very hard to get. The original Biggs and Deschutes jasper locations are closed to minning, but the nearby China Hollow and Beers Mountain have been able to produce some nice material in more recent years,
While China Hollow is still operating only by appointmenty, it's not clear if Beers Mountain is actively producing Biggs Jasper.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.

The first 2 pictures show the slab wet, this brings out the colors you should see in a finished product. Other pictures show item dry, this should show imperfections (small cracks or pits) if there are any. Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.
