Sugilite and magnesite preformed rough slab

Origin: South Africa

Characteristics: Preformed rough slab, no pits or open fractures, sealed fracture lines on front and back, can be seen in my pictures.. This Sugilite slab has beautiful lavender to purple Sugilite and black Manganese, irregular design shape, 47 x (8 to 27) x 5 mm, 54 ct

Finishing purchased slabs: My recommendation, start with 325 diamond grit and finish with 600 grit before polishing. I have created several posts that show how I create cabs, see my website blog on Designsbyshirl.com.

An 18 mm dime and 10 mm background squares in some pictures should help you with image sizing.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.

My preformed (shaped and sanded) rough slabs are small to medium size.  I cut out most or all open fractures and ugly pits.  I will try and note anything unusual in a slab (druzy, small pits, natural sealed fractures, etc.).  I sand all sides of a slab with 180 diamond grit so they are ready for you to finish with a finer grit and polish.

A lot of effort went into giving you a product that would make it easier for you to finish. Contact us if you have any special requests, for a small charge we will re-shape or cut special slabs to your specifications.

FINISHING: I try and get all or most of the pits and open fractures removed and the front and back smoothed to produce a more acceptable slab for you to finish for jewelry or specimen. My recommendation for finishing my slabs is to start with 325 diamond grit and finish with 600 to-1000 grit before polishing. COMBINING: If your combined items will fit in my standard 9x7x3" bubble envelope you will only be charged for the actual weight. Any shipping overage you may have paid will be returned manually before I ship your package.

PICTURES: Pictures are taken wet and dry, all are wet except the last 2. Wetting slabs bring out the colors you should see in a finished product, dry ones may show imperfections, small fractures or pits, nothing big and all of them will probably be eliminated when you finish the slab. Any imperfections that I think should be noted will be described in the items description above. Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.
